Because of her experience with the Navy she has been assigned to investigate a letter received from the mother of a sailor onboard the USS GREENWOOD LAKE. The letter urges Congresswoman Abraham to aggressively investigate harassment and discrimination that has been directed towards her son. As she begins her investigation in State of Affairs: Deception, Dr. Morgan encounters three issues. First, how is she to react to the sudden appearance of an old love who broke her heart 20+ years ago? Second, how does she find answers when they are hidden all over a United States Navy vessel? The third and most disconcerting…nothing is ever as it seems.

I loved Mama’s house. When I was really young my sisters and I were the only children. Eventually, my cousins came along and every summer that little house hugged four adults and a bunch of children. Some of us slept with our aunts or grandmother, but most of us slept on “pallets” on the floor. Contrary to what you might think, it was a comfortable pile of blankets, sheets and a pillow. We were normally there during the summer, so it wasn’t cold at night. 

Those summers were full of fun and adventure. I learned how to cut wood for the wood heating stove and cooking stove. That stove made the best cornbread, fried chicken, greens, pinto beans, cakes, pies and anything else Mama decided to cook on it! I remember watching her cook food that was plain but more delicious than any restaurant. 

This little book will tell you the rest of the story about my grandmother's cooking and stories of other grandmothers.
